We’re exposed to branding on a daily basis, whether we realize it or not.  Most people assume that a company's logo is their brand. While this answer is correct, it does not encompass the totality of a brand.  A company’s logo is a major component of their brand, but a brand is more than the logo or  a specified set of colors.  It has an element that is intangible – a feeling.  A good brand will evoke a response from the viewer – a memory, a desire, an affinity for the products and/or services that are provided under the brand.

It is this intangible that makes branding a major challenge.  It’s not just that the logo has to be certain colors, or in a specific location on the page or packaging, it’s that the other elements that surround it must emphasize and support the intangible aspect of the brand.
